Jo Ellen Hollberg Jacubec, age 78, of Wellston, passed away Friday, June 21, 2024, at Edgewood Manor in Wellston. She was the only child born to the late Floyd F. Hollberg and Laura Mae Ankrom Hollberg on August 1, 1945 at the original Holzer Hospital in Gallipolis, Ohio. Jo Ellen attended Wellston City Schools and graduated with the W.H.S. class of 1963. She attended Ohio University, where she met her future husband, George P. Jacubec, Jr. They were married on June 18, 1966 and spent the next 10 years living the Army life. During that time, 3 children were born to their union. From 1976 to 2009, George and Jo Ellen lived in Oklahoma and then Texas. In 2009, they returned to Wellston where Jo Ellen was able to spend time with her parents and live out her life. Cooking and gardening were never things that Jo Ellen enjoyed doing, but she loved "junkin". She is survived by her husband, George; children, Michael Sean Jacubec, Corey Elizabeth Rodriguez (Charles) and Tina Lynn Stroud (Ryon), as well as grandchildren, Cole Thurmond, Paul Rodriguez, Gabriel Rodriguez and Roman Jacubec. In keeping with Jo Ellen's wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Following cremation, private graveside services for the family will be in Ridgewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions in Jo Ellen's memory be given to the Jackson County Dog Pound, P.O. Box 606, Jackson, Ohio 45640.
