Joan Eileen “Joanie” McPherson, age 66, of McArthur, Ohio, passed away Friday, July 10, 2026 at her home. She was born October 12, 1959 in Oak Hill, Ohio to the late Raymond E. Goodman and Helen Ruth Sizemore Goodman. Joanie had a fun-loving, free-spirited and “hippie” outlook on life and loved the beach. She was also very artistic, enjoying various types of art including painting and design. Above all, Joanie was known to be a loving and compassionate source of comfort to her family and friends. To her children and grandchildren, she was the inspiration of a lifetime. Joanie was a proud member and bartender of the local chapter of the F.O.E. McArthur, Aerie 2279. Over the years, she was known to be an excellent mixologist in other hometown watering holes. Joanie is survived by her children, Geneva Hartman (Super Dave), Eric Anderson, Tiffany Harris (Jack), Rachel Woolever (Todd), Jolene Woolever, Hannah French (Grant), Kelly Whybrew (Ben) and Rider McPherson (Lauren); grandchildren, Hailie, Jack, Hunter, Madison, Allizai, Autumn, Erica, Anabelle and Jasper; great-grandchildren, Jack and Paxton; siblings, Jane Kelly, Jean Seibert (Stan), June Goodman and Joe Goodman (Carey), as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who became family. A private graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Coalton with Pastor Mark Rood officiating. A Celebration of Life gathering for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, July 14th, beginning at 2:00 p.m. and throughout the evening, at the cabin on Esau’s Lake, located at 38946 St. Rt. 160 in Hamden, Ohio.
