John H. Boggs, Jr., age 79, of Wellston, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Holzer Medical Center in Jackson.  He was born May 22, 1944 in Jackson County, Ohio, son of the late John H. Boggs, Sr. and Mary Irene McFann Boggs.  Johnny was a graduate of Coalton High School.  He retired from Austin Powder, where he was employed for several years.  Johnny loved to go fishing, mow grass for others, and tell his stories.  He enjoyed his auction shows and had hundreds of VCR tapes of them to watch.  Johnny also enjoyed getting out and taking rides in the country, but most of all, he really enjoyed talking to others and eating his baked potatoes.  Johnny attended the Pentecostal Holiness House of Prayer, where he met his new family, and most of all, the Lord.  Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Janetta Denney (Jeff) and Missy Massie (Kevin); grandchildren, Josh (Haley), Jeffrey, T.J. (Jess), Amber, and Cody (Desirae); siblings, Ricky Boggs (Jody), Vickie Jenkins, and Jeff Boggs; brothers-in-law, Roger Exline and Ernie Tilley; sisters-in-law, Sandy Boggs and Viola Boggs; along with 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Ronnie Boggs, and Roger Boggs; and sisters, Joanne Tilley, Judy Exline, and Sherri Pitts.  Funeral service will be Friday, December 15th, at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston with Pastor Randolph Hall officiating.  Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Memory Gardens in Coalton.  Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the funeral service from 12 to 1 p.m.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
