Lillian
Gilkey
July 16, 1925 – October 17, 2024
More than 99 years of life fully lived. How do you condense that to an article? Lillian Gilkey was Everything. First a daughter formed in the womb. Born to Roxy (Long) Dillow and Edward Dillow on July 16, 1925 in Ligon, Kentucky. A sister, a friend, a wife, a mother, a Christian, a colleague, a grandmother- great twice over. Of all the titles that she earned and fulfilled so well, we will all remember her by her love and spirit on fire. She was honest, hardworking, dependable and absolutely hilarious, often summed up to simply genuine. Lill bug is a self-described "Kentucky Hillbilly" that went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, October 17, 2024. She was preceded in death by many as would be expected of walking this earth for nearly a century. Her husband Frank Gilkey, daughter and son-in-law Joan and Jim Denney, daughter in love Carla Y, great grandson Brian Farney and her parents and siblings. She is survived by children Frank (Dee) Gilkey and Thomas Gilkey; daughter in love Daphne Henson; grand children, Steve (Kim) Denney, Kristie Denny, Jeff (Carol) Gilkey, Tammie (Drew) McGrady, Scott (Amy) Gilkey, Wendy (Rhonda Moon) Gilkey, Cherokee (Andrew) Ruby, Jessie (Bill) Farney, Roxanne (Kyle) Hargett, and Tommi Gilkey, as well as many great and great-great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Sunday, October 20th, at 3 p.m. at Pattonsville Cemetery with Pastor Tim Jones officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
