Madgie
Ousley
January 27, 1934 – March 8, 2025
Madgie Mae Ousley, age 91, of McArthur, Ohio passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 8, 2025. She was born January 27, 1934 in Inez, Kentucky to the late Floyd and Oma (Fletcher) Maynard. Madgie was the 3rd of 17 children. She believed in cherishing family. She was considered a mother figure to many of her younger siblings, as her mother passed away at the age of 50, leaving Madgie to try and fill her shoes. Madgie was quick to open her home to her siblings. Several of them stayed with her as young adults when they moved to Columbus. Madgie attended a one room school in Kentucky. Later, during grade school, she left school and stayed home to help her beloved "mommy" with her little brothers and sisters. The Maynard family was a close and loving group. Madgie spent over 60 years with her beloved husband, Dallas. Their love for one another was so obvious and true. Madgie instilled family values in their children and knew the importance of creating strong family bonds. Madgie was a homemaker and childcare provider for many years in Vinton County. Caring for others made her truly happy. Madgie put aside her own wants and needs for the betterment of her family and others. Family was everything to her. The children she babysat for were showered with love as well. Madgie loved the Lord. She attended Maggie's Home Baptist Church in Dundas, Ohio most of her life. Madgie and Dallas accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior many years ago. Madgie knew she would be reunited with her husband, son, parents, siblings and other loved ones. Madgie was a compassionate and beautiful soul. Those who were close to her can say without reservation that Madgie never said a bad word about anyone, not even when bad words were deserved. A good day for Madgie was to be surrounded by her children, grandchildren and many siblings. It was common for her brothers and sisters to just pop in from Kentucky and Columbus to visit for a day or two. That's what air mattresses are for, after all! All were welcome and invitations were unnecessary. Stopping in to visit with her also meant Madgie was going to whip up a good meal whether you were hungry or not. Madgie enjoyed fishing with Dallas. She loved visiting her siblings and looked forward to the family reunions every year. She loved flowers and sitting on the porch watching the hummingbirds and cardinals. The simplest of things brought her great joy. Madgie loved her "babies". The little ones made her smile the most. Every new grandchild knew that their Grandma Madgie loved them. "I love you" was spoken often and hugs and kisses were plentiful. She should be remembered for her selfless LOVE of others. Madgie is survived by her children, Anna Bartoe (Roger) of McArthur, Bruce Bailey (Lori) of Jackson, Michael D. Ousley (Lori) of Wellston, and James A. Ousley (Kim) of McArthur; grandchildren, Roger Bartoe, Jr. (Mandy), Wesley Yerian (Tommy), Shaun Bartoe (Cassie), Jerrod Bailey (Brooke), Crystal Sizemore (Brian), Dallas "Chris" Ousley, Brittany Perry (Chris), Joshua Ousley (Kelsey), Warren Silcott (Tiffany), Zane Moore (Erica), Michael S. Maynard (Louella), Rebecca McCoy (Lloyd), Aileen Bowen (Lloyd), and Doris Posanti (Joe), along with 23 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Oma Maynard; husband, Dallas Eugene Ousley, Sr.; son, Dallas Eugene Ousley, Jr.; brothers, Herbert Maynard, Floyd Maynard, Jr., Vernal Maynard, Edgar Lee Maynard, Claude Maynard, and John F. Maynard, and sisters, Mida Newell, Patricia Patrick, Ola Patrick, and Naoma Jean Hill. Calling hours will be Thursday, March 13th, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.
