Obituary

Mark Allen Jacobs, age 70, of Wellston, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023.  He was born June 29, 1952 in Gallipolis, Ohio to Frank M. Jacobs and Maxine Slavens Jacobs.  Mark was a 1970 graduate of Wellston High School.  He attended Rio Grande College, Ohio University, and later graduated from the Police Academy in Columbus, Ohio.  Mark retired from the City of Wellston, where he was the former Chief of Police and later served as the City Service Director.  He always enjoyed telling jokes, being around family and friends, and making others laugh.  Mark also enjoyed photography, bow hunting, fishing, watching T.V., hunting arrowheads, and taking care of his fur babies.  He was a member of the Ohio Chiefs Association and a former member of the F.O.P. Lodge #96 and the Wellston Lions Club.  Mark is survived by his mother, Maxine Jacobs of Wellston, daughters, Angela Vickers of McArthur and Shelley Jacobs of Wellston; grandchildren, Mark Vickers, Jr., Jessica Logsdon, Lexey Logsdon and Lynsey Logsdon; close friends, Tiffany and JR Johnson, and their children, Daphne and Gunnar; and his fur babies, Cupcake, Ottis, Winston and Bessie.  Mark was preceded in death by his father, Frank Jacobs; and his wife, Diane Jacobs.  Calling hours will be Sunday, February 19th, from 12 to 2 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  A Celebration of Life service will follow the calling hours at 2 p.m. with Pastor John Pelletier officiating.  In keeping with Mark's request, cremation will follow the service.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhomoe.com.
