Mary S. Young, age 80, of Wellston, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2023, at O'Bleness Hospital in Athens, Ohio.  She was born September 9, 1942 in Wellston, Ohio, daughter of the late Charles J. Hunter and Bernice L. Thacker Hunter.  Mary was a homemaker and a former employee of R.J. Reynolds.  She was a very loving and giving person whose main goal in life was to make sure her family was taken care of.  Mary enjoyed square dancing, playing Bingo, going to the casino, and spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters, great-granddaughter, nieces and nephews.  She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Tony Hagerty; granddaughters, Shavonna Hagerty and Olivia Hagerty; great-granddaughter, Ali; sister, Charlotte Hubbard; her special dog, Rocky; along with several nieces and nephews, including special nieces, Roxanna Riegel and Peggy Newman.  Besides her parents, Mary was preceded in death by sisters and brothers-in-law, Maggie and Walter Malone, Betty and Sam Wilt, and Dora and Emmitt Smith; brother, Charles A. Hunter; and nephew, Emmitt "Pete" Smith.  Calling hours will be Tuesday, May 23rd, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Funeral service will be Wednesday, May 24th, at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Teresa Parks officiating.  Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
