James Michael "Mike" Sprague, age 75, of Hamden, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2022, at the Holzer Medical Center in Jackson, Ohio.  He was born April 29, 1946 in Gallipolis, Ohio, son of the late Karl V. Sprague and Norma Jean Gill Sprague.  Mike was a veteran of the United States Army who served during the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion Post 371 in Wellston.  He retired from Sands Hill Coal Company, where he was employed for 33 years.  Mike was an avid fisherman and he also enjoyed hunting.  He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Maureen E. "Mo" Goergen Sprague; sons, Michael McMahon (Juliet) of Beavercreek and Daniel McMahon of Wellston; grandchildren, Whittley, Sophia and Andrew; great-granddaughter, Adalynn; sister, Carol McKnight (Larry); brothers, Gary, Larry and Tim Sprague; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Besides his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra Sprague.  Calling hours will be Tuesday, January 25 ^th , from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Funeral service will be Wednesday, January 26 ^th , at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Jones officiating.  Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Hamden Cemetery.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
