Mona Lee Scurlock, age 83, of Hamden, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, November 14, 2025.  She was born at home in Puritan on February 5, 1942 to the late Paul McWilliams and Goldie Cottrill McWilliams.  Mona Lee graduated from Hamden High School with the Class of 1959.  Several years ago, she was employed at Perdue's Five and Dime in Wellston, as well as Huston's Nursing Home and Austin Powder.  Overall, her main focus was being a loving wife and mother.  Mona Lee had a strong Christian faith that started as a young child while attending Puritan Free Will Baptist Church with her parents and she carried that faith throughout her life.  Mona Lee was able to attend church at Puritan Church one last time on Sunday prior to her passing.  She enjoyed cooking and carrying on the family tradition of making the best noodles.  She also enjoyed working outside in the garden and in her flower beds.  Mona Lee had a beautiful singing voice, which both of her daughters inherited, and over the years, shared her singing with others.  She is survived by her daughter, Linda Lee Scurlock, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Besides her parents, Mona Lee was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Hughie M. Scurlock on January 8, 2012; daughter, Mary Ann Scurlock on February 23, 2025; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harley and Ellen McWilliams and Jim and Patty McWilliams, and sister and brother-in-law, Naomi and Charlie Loudermilk.  Calling hours will be Tuesday, November 18, from 12 to 2 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  A Celebration of Life service will follow the calling hours at 2 p.m. with Pastor Keith Fulton and Pastor Keith Mullins officiating.  Burial will be in the Hamden Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mona Lee's memory can be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or online at www.stjude.org.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
