Morgan Chelsey Herdman, age 27, of Leon, West Virginia, formerly of Wellston, passed away unexpectedly from injuries she received in an automobile accident on Friday, September 16, 2022 in West Virginia.  She was born January 12, 1995 in Chillicothe, Ohio to Charles "Chad" Gilliland and Rachel Simpson.  Morgan was a 2013 graduate of Wellston High School.  She was an avid animal lover, and she loved to cook and attend flea markets.  Morgan is survived by her husband of 6 years, Ethan Herdman of Leon, WV; father, Chad Gilliland (Pattie) of Wellston; mother, Rachel Simpson of Wellston; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Darrell and Vickie Herdman of Leon, WV; sister, Stephanie Hill of Wellston; grandparents, Charlie Gilliland of Wellston and Don and Barb Simpson of Wellston; aunts, Mary Hughes (Jay) of Wellston, Pam Phillips (Greg) of Wellston, and Yvonne Dubeck of Indiana; uncles, Tom Gilliland of Wellston and Russ Stewart (Valerie) of Tampa, FL; brother-in-law, Joseph Herdman of Leon, WV; sister-in-law, Jazmine Herdman of Leon, WV; nephew, David Herdman of St. Albans, WV; as well as her fur babies, Midge and Lady.  Morgan was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Martha Gilliland; uncle, DJ Simpson; and cousin, Damon Remy.  Calling hours will be Saturday, September 24th, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 7 p.m. with Pastor Sandy Wright officiating.  A memorial gathering will be held Sunday, September 25th, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Deal Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, WV.  Private burial will be held at a later date in Salem Cemetery in Wellston.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Morgan's honor be made to the local animal rescue or animal shelter.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
