Obituary

Oakley E. Fletcher, age 88, of Wellston, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2020, at the V.A. Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio. He was born June 23, 1931 in Greeneville, Tennessee, the son of the late George M. Gilland and Pearl V. Roberts Fletcher. Oakley was a veteran of the United States Army, who served during the Korean War. He was a former employee of the National Cash Register Company for 16 years and was a member of the Radcliff Fellowship Chapel. Oakley was an outdoorsman who always enjoyed being outside mowing, gardening and landscaping. He is survived by brothers, Robert Fletcher and Bobby Gene Gilland; sisters, Ruth Hager, Sherry McCurry, Penny Way and Bonnie Sutherland; granddaughters, Meredith Fletcher and Melissa Fletcher, along with several nieces and nephews and extended family members, David and Mary Frye. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Myra Faye Fletcher; son, Dennis Fletcher; 2 brothers and 5 sisters. Graveside service, with military honors by the United States Army, will be held Monday, January 6, 2020, at the Dayton National Cemetery.
