Patricia Ann May Abele, age 93, of Wellston, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.  She was born April 13, 1931 in Wellston, Ohio, daughter of the late Charles A. "Parker" May, Sr. and Anna Belle Riepenhoff May.  Patricia attended Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School and was a 1949 graduate of Wellston High School, where she was head majorette for the Wellston Golden Rockets Marching Band.  At the age of 16, she had the honor of being crowned the 1947 Jackson County Apple Festival Queen and later was chosen Miss Ohio Apple Queen.  Patricia was the former owner, along with her husband, Jim, of Riepenhoff's Bar and Grill in Wellston.  More importantly to her, she was a loving homemaker and mother.  Her life revolved around her family, spending treasured time with her children and grandchildren, and making sure that they were taken care of.  Patricia was a devoted member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Wellston.  She is survived by her children, Leanna Abele of Columbus, Steve Abele of Wellston, and Mike Abele (Vickie) of Wellston; granddaughter, Mikayla Wilson (Jason); great-grandson, Nash Wilson; sister-in-law, Barbara Gaskill May; and niece, Sara May Godfrey.  Besides her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Abele in 1991; infant daughter, Theresa; and brother, Charles A. May, Jr.  Calling hours will be Tuesday, April 15th, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Wellston.  Mass of Christian Burial will follow the calling hours at 2 p.m. with Father Thomas Herge officiating.  Burial will be in the Mt.
