Paul Allen Hembree, age 72, of Hamden, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at his home. He was born May 4, 1951 in Evarts, Kentucky, son of the late Paul Thomas Hembree and Mildred Della Leitch Hembree. Paul Allen was a 1970 graduate of Vinton County Consolidated School High School and retired from Sands Hill Coal Company. He was a Mason and member of Orphans Friend Lodge #275 F&AM. Paul Allen enjoyed being outdoors hunting and fishing, and loved the time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Myrna L. Wells Hembree; daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Delbert Fulton; son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Mary Hembree; grandchildren, Josie Waugh (Koby), Matt Hembree, and Lauren Hembree; great-granddaughter, Kenleigh Waugh; brother, Mike Hembree; sister, Susan Curry (Billy); along with several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother. In keeping with Paul Allen's wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. A celebration of Paul Allen's life for the family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions be made to Paul Allen's favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
