Richard Allen Bartoe Sr.

Richard Allen “Rick” Bartoe, Sr., age 74, of McArthur, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2026, at his home. He was born November 9, 1951 in McArthur, Ohio, son of the late William Wesley “Wes” Bartoe and Wilma Jean England Bartoe. Rick retired from Adelman and Clark Lumber Company in McArthur where he was employed for over 40 years. He was a hard worker all his life and could fix anything. Whether it be mechanical, plumbing, electrical, or whatever, he would fix the problem. Rick was also a jokester who always made others laugh and wanted them to be happy. Family was very important to Rick. He had strong morals and passed them on to his family, who in turn learned so much from him. In his spare time, Rick loved to go fishing, and he enjoyed camping, gardening, listening to music and dancing. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Karen K. LeMay Bartoe; daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Aaron Prater; grandchildren, Darrick Prater (Courtney), Tyra Prater, Lealand Prater, Zach Bartoe (Lily), and Jaylynn Bartoe; great-granddaughter, Violet Prater; siblings, Larry Bartoe (Dora), Jack Bartoe (Judy), Roger Bartoe (Anna), Bill Bartoe (Pat), and Kathy Grigsby, along with several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his son, Ricky Bartoe; grandson, Isaiah Bartoe; and brother-in-law, Lonnie Grigsby. Calling hours will be Saturday, May 30, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. A Celebration of Life service will follow the calling hours at 6 p.m. with Rick’s daughter, Jessica Prater, officiating. In keeping with Rick’s wishes, cremation will follow the service.
