Richard H. "Bear" Jones, 76, of Ashville, OH passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at Riverside Methodist Hospital.   He was born on April 29, 1948 to the late Homer and Edith (Camink) Jones in Gallipolis, OH.  He was a 1965 graduate of Wellston High School and then worked as a draftsman.  He was a member of the Appalachian Dirt Riders ADR, Appalachian Old Car Club, and attended South Bloomfield MC. In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his brothers Robert E. Jones and Herbert Jones; sisters Eleanor Jolly, Marilyn Taylor, Phyllis Miller, and Geraldine Ponn.  He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janice M. (Harper) Jones; sisters Marcella Newvahner-Jackson and Florace (Don) Morrow of Columbus; sister-in-law Nancy (Curtis) Evers of Chillicothe; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4th at Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St. Ashville and from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5th at McWilliams Funeral Home, 125 E. 1st Street, Wellston with Pastor Floyd Hubbell officiating.  Interment will follow at Salem Cemetery in Wellston.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Richard's memory be given to the South Bloomfield Methodist Church, 5027 2nd Street, South Bloomfield, Oh. 43103.  Online condolences at olivercheekfuneralhome.com and www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
