Richard L. "Rich" Bishop, Jr., age 66, of Wellston, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, September 2, 2023, from his home.  He was born April 1, 1957 in Wellston, Ohio, son of the late Richard Lewis Bishop, Sr. and Rita Ann Leach Bishop.  Rich graduated from Wellston High School with the class of 1975.  He was a former employee at McNally Pittsburg Manufacturing and Jeno's, and later retired from Glatfelter.  Starting at the young age of 16, Rich began ministering, and pastored at several churches for the next 50 years.  He was a devoted Christian and was a member of the Coalton Free Will Baptist Church.  Rich was also very musically talented and could play the piano from one end to the other.  In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his ATV, showing his old cars at car shows, and spending time with his family.  Rich is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sally Jo Dye Bishop; daughters and sons-in-law, Amanda and Brian Ross, Julia-Grace and Joey Thacker, and Melinda and Kyle Chapley; grandchildren, Taylor Gilliland (Matt), Emillee Ross, Katie Ross, Josiah Thacker, Jr., Jacob Thacker, and Kiley Chapley; great-grandson, Grayson Gilliland; niece, Nicole Poling (Bob); nephew, Eric Nichols; sister-in-law, Margaret Hanna (Kevin); along with 1 aunt, 1 uncle, and several cousins and friends.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Tonya Dye.  Calling hours will be Wednesday, September 6th, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Funeral service will be Thursday, September 7th, at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Ed Barney officiating.  Burial will follow in the Salem Cemetery.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
