Richard Morris Straten, age 69, of Gallipolis, and a former resident of Wellston, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2021, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.  He was born December 24, 1951 in Bucyrus, Ohio to the late James Gerald "Red" Straten and Belva Ann McKinniss Straten.  Richard was a former employee at General Mills in Wellston and a former janitor for the Wellston City Schools.  He always enjoyed playing card games, fishing and tinkering on cars.  Richard is survived by his children, Dana Straten, Andy Straten, Angel Straten (Danny Darling, Jr.) and Rosezanna Straten; 5 grandchildren, including Sully Woodie and Morgan Woodie; sisters, Wanda Albright (Bill) and Thabiatha Poe (Roger) along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Besides his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Goheen Straten in 2004; 3 brothers and 4 sisters.  In keeping with Richard's wishes, his body was cremated.  A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family with burial in the Salem Cemetery.  For those who wish, contributions can be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.  Arrangements are under the direction of the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhoome.com.
