Rita G. Faught Campbell, age 87, of Wellston, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2026 at her home. She was born September 28, 1939 in Wellston, Ohio, to the late Gordon H. Faught and Geraldine Gould Faught. Rita was a 1957 graduate of Wellston High School and later worked for several years as a clerk at Stiffler’s Department Store, Super Dollar and The Shoe Review. In earlier days, she enjoyed bowling and square dancing at the Wagon Wheelers. Rita loved watching television. She often recounted remembering her family’s first T.V. and how she loved watching it from then on. But her true passion was her family, both biological and beyond. As the eldest of six children, she was strong-willed, decisive and determined. Rita was the one to whom everyone in the family turned for advice. Her kitchen table was the gathering place on Sundays and holidays. Rita was a charter member of Grace Baptist Fellowship in Wellston. She is survived by her children, Cindy Waters, Jackie Johnston (Robert) and Mike Campbell (Teresa Williams); son-in-law, Berie Miller; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Judy Henderson (Ronnie), Gordon Faught, Robert Faught (Janet) and Carolyn Stewart (Dale), as well as many nieces, nephews and surrogate children and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Ronnie Campbell, in 2021; daughters, Ronda Miller and Rita Holstein; son-in-law, Freddie Waters; great-grandsons, Jason Lee Steele Jr. and Thomas Miller Jr.; and brother, Kermit Faught. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026 from 4 to 7 p.m. and Sunday, October 11, from 12 to 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. A service celebrating Rita’s life will follow the calling hours on Sunday at 1 p.m. with Pastors Tim Jones, Terry Keeton and Steve Mathews officiating. In keeping with her wishes, cremation will follow the service and a private burial will take place at Ridgewood Cemetery.
