Robert Ben Cozort, age 78, of Hamden, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio.  He was born March 15, 1946 in Tipple, West Virginia, son of the late Irvin Cozort and Kathleen Doris Brooks Cozort.  Robert was a proud veteran of the United States Navy having served 2 terms during the Vietnam War.  He was a retired coal miner who worked at both Brody Mining in Wharton, West Virginia and Meigs Mine #2.  Robert was a Christian minister who loved the Lord and was a member of Putnam Chapel Church in McArthur for 30 years.  He enjoyed gardening, but he loved being on the water fishing and enjoying the surroundings.  Robert was a loving man who was also known for harassing his grandkids.  He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Kathy Ann "Sue" Buchanan Cozort; children, Gary, Jack, Tammy, Edna, Becky, Jamie, Steven, Matthew and Josh; siblings, Sue, Linda, Diane, Roger and Carol; along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Besides his parents, Robert was preceded in death by son, Ernie, and brother, Dale.  Calling hours will be Saturday, September 14th, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Funeral service, with military honors, will follow the calling hours at 1 p.m. with Pastor John Starr officiating.  In keeping with Robert's wishes, cremation will follow the service.  In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions in Robert's memory be given to Putnam Chapel Church, c/o Phyllis Starr.
