Roger Dale Gray, age 77, of Wellston, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at his home. He was born November 29, 1948 in Dayton, Ohio, son of the late Raymond Gray and Luretta Johnson Gray. In years past, Roger was a former employee of Dayton Press. He was also a respected roofer who owned R&S Roofing for many years. Roger was a Harley enthusiast and mechanic who enjoyed keeping his friends’ bikes on the road. He had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed spending time in the woods bow hunting and mushroom hunting whenever he had the chance. Being the bike enthusiast that he was, Roger traveled south for bike week at Myrtle Beach every year. Most of all, what made Roger happy was spending quality time with his family and his garage buddies. He was a former member, Vice-President, Sergent at Arms and Enforcer of the I.B.A. and a member of the AmVets in Jackson. Roger is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Sherry L. Arthur Gray; children, Teresa “Kim” Perkins, husband, Joseph, and their children, Austin and Paige; Brian Fisher, Todd Fisher, Patrick “Brad” Smith, Scott Gray, Rick Gray and Michelle Gray; his boxer companions, Little Boy and Penny, along with many grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and cousins, including special brother-in-law, Roger Arthur, and special cousin, Steve Johnson, who were both like brothers to Roger. Calling hours will be Saturday, September 5, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. A Celebration of Life service will follow the calling hours at 7:30 p.m. with Pastor Will Gillem officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Roger’s family requests that you come to his calling hours and service dressed the way Roger would expect to see you. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Roger’s memory be given to the Jackson County Dog Pound, P.O. Box 606 Jackson, Ohio 45640.
