Ronald Ray Stewart, age 79, of McArthur, passed away Monday, December 6, 2021 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He was born October 13, 1942 in Londonderry, Ohio, son of the late Winn Marvin Stewart and Mildred Irene Hill Stewart. Ronnie was a 1960 graduate of Allensville High School. A veteran of the United States Air Force, he served during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant. Ronnie later attended police academies in both Kansas City and Florida. He was the former Chief of Police for the village of Hamden, as well as a former officer for the Haines City Police Department in Florida and the Kansas City Police Department in Missouri, where he served with the organized task force. He was also a former truck driver, having retired from Cardinal Transportation. Hunting and fishing were among Ronnie's favorite pastimes, and he was a member of the V.F.W. Post in McArthur and the Centurion Motorcycle Club. Ronnie is survived by his children, Harriet Kathryn "Katy" Stewart of Reno, Nevada and Ronald Benjamin Stewart of Waverly; grandchildren, Kaydra Stringer of Buckner, Missouri, Kira Miles of Less Summit, Missouri, and Haley Stewart of Waverly; great-grandchildren, James Stringer, Bella Harkins, Kaden Moody, Zackary Stringer, Dakota Moody, Phoenix Wynn Stewart and Zapherianyth Moody; siblings, Mary Herris, Donald Stewart, Wayne Stewart and Kathy Stewart, all of McArthur and Carolyn Craft of Cincinnati; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Johnny Stewart and Russell Stewart; and sister, Virginia Colls. A memorial service, with military honors, will be held Tuesday, December 14th at 2 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston with Rev. Carl R. Radcliff officiating.
