Roy Allen Carpenter, age 74, of Vinton, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday morning, December 18, 2022. He was born May 17, 1948 in Standard, West Virginia, son of the late Miles J. Carpenter and Pauline Baker Carpenter. Roy was a veteran of the United States Army who served during the Vietnam War. He retired from the Southern Ohio Coal Company, where he was employed for 27 years. Roy was also an Evangelist of the Pentecostal faith and was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Gallipolis. Besides his family, church and his faith were most important to him. In his spare time, Roy enjoyed golfing, watching T.V., traveling, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of over 53 years, Leavina "Tina" Hall Carpenter; children, Robert Allen Carpenter (Suzanne) of Suffolk, Va., Tracy Wayne Carpenter (Jennifer) of Wellston, Carrie Lynn Carpenter (Adam Douglas) of Canton, and Crystal Renee Ingalls of Wellston; grandchildren, Tyler Carpenter, Trey Carpenter, Joseph Carpenter, Josie Atwood (Matt), Brooklyn Carpenter, Mariah Smith, Carlie Smith, Damon Carpenter, Chase Ingalls, Emma Ingalls and Braxton Ingalls; great-grandchildren, Allie, Rowan, Kamryn and Adeline; sisters, Joyce Ward (Roscoe), Mary Preston (Jonathan), and Carol Sue Kemper, all of Vinton; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides his parents, Roy was preceded in death by brothers, Bob Baker, Rick Carpenter, Frank Carpenter, and Bill Carpenter. In keeping with Roy's wishes, cremation followed his passing. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions in Roy's name be given to the Church of God of Prophecy, 380 White Road, Gallipolis, Ohio 45631.
