Obituary

Roy Williams, Jr., age 72, of Wellston, passed away September 27, 2023, at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio.  He was born May 9, 1951 in Wellston, Ohio, son of the late Roy Williams, Sr. and Anna Mae Nichols Williams.  Jr., as he was known to many, graduated from Wellston High School with the class of 1969.  He was a hardworking man all his life, and was a former employee of Asplundh Tree Company, Frick-Gallagher Manufacturing Company, Austin Powder, and OSCO.  Jr. retired from Jackson County, where he served as the Jackson County Dog Warden for several years.  He was a very headstrong person who in his later years was also very compassionate.  He loved to go hunting, especially coon hunting and rabbit hunting, and he also enjoyed just taking his dogs out to run.  Jr. was an avid Cleveland Browns fan, but most of all, he was the biggest fan of his son, and any of the sports activities that his son and his grandsons took part in.  He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Caleb and Amanda Williams; grandchildren, Carter, Cooper and Camdyn Williams; sisters, Donna Stroth and Ethel Williams; niece, Stephanie Patton; nephew, Rex Stroth; along with several cousins and friends, including special friends, Bub Norris, Woody Wright, and Donnie Stevens.  Besides his parents, Jr. was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 33 years, Michelle Finn Williams; brother, Earl Williams; and sister, Lura Nelson.  In keeping with Jr.'s wishes, no services will be held.  Following cremation, private burial will be in the Ridgewood Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jr.'s memory can be given to the Golden Rocket Athletic Boosters Club at any Peoples Bank location.  Arrangements are under the direction of the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
