Roy A. Ross, age 81, of Wellston, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.  He was born December 30, 1941 in Johnsonville, Kentucky, son of the late Dewey J. Ross and Lou Ella Grim Ross.  Roy graduated from Wellston High School with the class of 1961.  He was a former truck driver with Montgomery Trucking for several years, and retired from Mid Atlantic, where he was a heavy equipment operator.  Roy loved to go mushroom hunting, and he also enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and playing cards with his family.  He is survived by children, Stephanie Coleman of Oceanside, California, Vickie Abele (Mike) of Wellston, Rocke Ross (Julie) of Jackson, Audra Ross of Jackson, Randy Ross (Carrie) of Wellston; Darrell Denney of Chillicothe, George Denney of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Catrina Storms (Kenny) of Coalton and Tammy Chapman of Knoxville, Tennessee; along with 30 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.  Besides his parents, Roy was preceded in death by children, Roy "Danny" Ross, Kevin Ross, Jerry "Babe" Denney, Matthew Simpkins and Tony Chapman; grandchildren, Keith Denney, Brandon Ross, Bridget Workman and Jerry "Bub" Workman; brothers, Emil, Gerald, Clarence "Lowell" and Gary Ross; and sisters, Gladys Seagraves, Ruth Green, Mary Avis Doles, Marilyn Bowling and Edna Cooper.  Calling hours will be Monday, February 6th, from 12 to 2 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 2 p.m. with Pastor Tim Jones officiating.  Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
