Sarah Lyn Rood, born October 25, 1962, in Columbus, Ohio, to Ferrell Matthew Rood and Nancy Louise Allman Rood, passed away unexpectedly on September 30, 2026, at OSU Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
Sarah was a kind-hearted woman who was always willing to help others. Above all else, she loved her family deeply, and her family meant everything to her.
Sarah was strong-willed, hard-headed, and never afraid to tell you exactly how she felt. She was truly one of a kind. She had a personality all her own, and those who knew her will always remember her for being unapologetically herself.
She loved her Harleys and took pride in the little things that made her happy- wearing her rings and bracelets every day and having her nails done by her granddaughter, Sarah Bradley. Her granddaughter Sarah, who was named after her, held a very special place in her heart. These were the simple moments that brought her joy and created memories her family will treasure forever.
Throughout her life, Sarah faced many health problems, but she always tried to stay positive and keep moving forward. She endured more than her share of struggles, yet she continued to show strength and determination.
Sarah was preceded in death by her beloved father, Pastor Ferrell Matthew Rood, whom she looked forward to seeing again in Heaven. After all these years, she has finally gotten to go home to her daddy.
Sarah leaves behind her mother, Nancy Louise Rood; her daughter, Tosa Broome (Nathan); her son, Eric Evans (Christy); her granddaughter, Sarah Bradley (Chase); her grandson, Jacob Evans; her brother, Mark Rood (Annette); and many other family members and friends who will forever cherish the memories they made with her.
Sarah’s wishes were to be cremated and to have no formal funeral services. In keeping with her wishes, her family will honor her life with a celebration of life at a later time, at the family’s discretion. Details will be shared with family and friends when arrangements have been made.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nursing staff and caregivers at the Maple Hill Care Center who cared for Sarah throughout the years. They became an important part of Sarah’s life, and she loved them. Our family grew to love them as well, and we will always be grateful for the kindness, patience, compassion, and care they gave to Mom. Thank you for loving and caring for her when we could not be there. You will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Sarah’s life may have ended, but the love she gave and the memories she created will live on through her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Until we meet again, Mom. I love you more than words could ever say. You fought so hard, and now you can finally rest. Give Grandpa a hug for me. You will forever be a part of me, and you will never, ever be forgotten.
Arrangements are under the direction of the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Online Condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
