Obituary

Sharon A. King, also known to many as Grammy, age 79, of Wellston, passed away Friday, April 19, 2024, at her home.  She was born June 14, 1944 in Gallipolis, Ohio, daughter of the late Marion Helm and Elizabeth Gast Helm.  Sharon graduated from Wellston High School with the class of 1962.  She had a seemingly boundless energy and was considered one of the hardest working women in town by those who knew her.  Sharon was a former employee of J-Vac Industries where she helped the clients in the adult basic education department.  She was also a former Head Start home visitor and loved working with the children in their homes.  In years past, Sharon was a dog groomer and had her own grooming business, Kings K-9 Kuts.  Her last employment was with Wellston City Schools where she worked as a custodian for several years.  In her spare time, Sharon could always be seen outside her home working in the yard and tending to her flower gardens.  She was a former avid bowler, and enjoyed traveling, especially going on beach vacations with her family.  Most of all, Sharon's life revolved around her grandchildren, whom she adored.  She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Tina King; grandchildren, Tyler King (Briley Lusk) and Tiffani Woods (Grant); sister, Marsha Henry (John); along with niece and nephews, Marla, Jon, and Richie.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Ivan Frederick Helm.  Visitation will be held Sunday, April 28th from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  A Celebration of Life service will follow the visitation at 5 p.m.  Private burial will be with her parents in Ridgewood Cemetery.  Online condolences can be sent the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
