Sherry Lou Jarvis Ranta, age 66, of Wellston, passed away Monday, August 25, 2025, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.  She was born January 8, 1959 in Gallipolis, Ohio, daughter of the late Brice Samuel Jarvis and Betty Jane Nichols Jarvis.  Sherry graduated from Wellston High School with the class of 1977.  She was always a hardworking woman throughout her entire life.  Sherry and her husband Ed were the co-owners of Ranta's  Resale, Greenhouse and Flower Shop in Wellston for 24 years.  In years past, she was a driver's ed instructor for AAA for 14 years.  Sherry never met a stranger, always had a good story to tell, and was never afraid to speak her mind.  She is survived by her son, Denver T. Carter, Jr. (Brittany) of Wellston; daughters, Beth Ellis (Matt) of Ellsworth, Iowa and Amanda Neis (Quinton) of Harris, Minnesota; grandchildren, Katrina Westra and Colton Neis; brother, Steve Jarvis (Rita) of Wellston; sister, Cindy Akers (David) of Wellston; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Ranta in 2024; and siblings, Judy Sowers, Ronnie Jarvis, and Randy Jarvis.  In keeping with Sherry's wishes, there will be no services, and private burial will be in the Ridgewood Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
