Obituary

Karl Thomas "Tom" Brandau, Jr., age 73, of Wellston, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Fairhope Hospice Facility in Lancaster, Ohio.  He was born March 17, 1951 in Wellston, Ohio to the late Karl Thomas Brandau, Sr. and Doris Jean Griffith Brandau.  Tom graduated from Wellston High School with the class of 1969.  For 25 years, he worked at the Southern Ohio Coal Company.  In 2002, he began his 22 years of employment with the City of Wellston where he worked until recently as the chief operator of the wastewater treatment plant.  Tom was a hardworking man, but in his spare time, he loved to go fly fishing in the mountain streams of Tennessee and in Michigan.  He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Terri A. Wence Brandau; daughters, Crystal Golden (Randy) and Beth Vest (Eric); grandchildren, Dakota (Jessie), Taylor (Cody), Reghan (Josh), Alexis, Susan, and Stephanie; brother, Terry Brandau; sister-in-law, Carla Wittkamp; nephews, Casey (Bre), Jason (Jill), and Joe (Vanita); niece, Mandy (Nathan); great-nieces and nephews, Gavin, Emma, Rylan, Isaac, Raegan, Evan, and Kacey; along with several great-grandchildren, cousins and friends.  Besides his parents, Tom was preceded in death by father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ray and Ruth Wence; sister-in-law, Sharon Brandau; brother-in-law, Bob Wittkamp; and great-niece, little Lily Mae.  In keeping with Tom's request, there will be no services and cremation will follow his passing.  In lieu of flowers, a contribution in Tom's memory can be given to a favorite charity of one's choice.  Arrangements are under the direction of the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
