Vernon Ray Hawk, age 79, of Allensville, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020, at his home.  He was born April 23, 1941 in McArthur, Ohio to the late Charles R. Hawk and Emma J. Cozad Hawk.  Vernon was a 1959 graduate of Allensville High School.  He retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation, where he was employed for several years.  In his spare time, Vernon enjoyed fishing and woodworking.  He is survived by his brother, Jerry Hawk, Sr. of Allensville; niece, Misty Hawk of Chillicothe; nephew, Jarrod Hawk (Stephanie) of Wellston; great- nieces and great-nephews, Brittany McNichols (Nick), Jaylah Kennedy, Ryan Hawk (Brittany), Jacob Hawk, Jordan Hawk, Braylon Hawk and Jace McKenzie; great-great-nieces and nephews, Griffin Hawk, Stranton McNichols, Sawyer McNichols and Aubrie Newman; and special friend, Shane Newman.  Besides his parents, Vernon was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Valerie Hawk and nephew, Jerry Hawk, Jr.  Funeral service will be Thursday, December 10, 2020, at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston with Pastor Danny Minton officiating.  Friends may call 1 hour prior to the funeral service.  Burial will follow in the Bell Cemetery.  For those choosing to attend the service, due to the Covid pandemic, facial coverings are required inside the building as well as the practicing of social distancing at this time.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
