Obituary

Von Eric Womeldorf, age 77, of Wellston, went Home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday morning, December 9, 2024.  He passed away peacefully at his residence on Mulga Road, holding the hand of his wife of 55 years, Theresa Grosjean Womeldorf.  Von overcame many health issues over the past 10 years with God's help.  He was hospitalized for 15 days before he came home to see his grandkids.  Von was the 7th child born to Erskin Erwin Womeldorf and Arvilla Emma Lindauer Womeldorf on March 21, 1947 in Wellston, Ohio.  He was a 1965 graduate of Wellston High School.  He joined the US Navy following graduation and served 4 years, most of that time being on the USS Essex.  Von worked most of his life at Frick-Gallagher Manufacturing plant in Wellston until the company moved out of town and country.  He then worked at Value Added Office Supplies in Jackson toward his retirement years.  Von was raised in a Christian home and gave his life to Jesus 22 years ago at World Outreach Ministries when his twin grandbabies were dedicated and has been a faithful member ever since.  Von had many precious sisters and brothers in Christ at church who encouraged him in so many ways.  He told each doctor in the hospital that he was a blood bought Christian and was ready to go to Heaven.  Von enjoyed his family and his home with beautiful hills and woods.  He loved to fish and enjoyed going to Kentucky in the spring to catch crappies, as well as going to Holden Beach for vacations most summers.  Von and his family enjoyed the woods and the many hunting excursions that they went on and has passed the hunting legacy onto his kids and grandkids.  And of course, he was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan as well.  Von is survived by his wife, Theresa Grosjean Womeldorf, and was blessed with 3 sons and daughters-in-law and their families, Matthew and Mari Womeldorf of Columbus, Eric and Carly Womeldorf of Wellston, and Adam and Brittany Womeldorf of Wellston; grandchildren, Mattisyn Fritchen (Anakin) of Columbus, Isabella Bush (Josh) of Oak Hill, Blake Womeldorf of Hamden, Macy Womeldorf of Hamden, Samuel Womeldorf of Wellston, Camryn Womeldorf, Kinslee Womeldorf and Chloe Womeldorf, all of Wellston; a special nephew who was like a son, Greg Kelly of Wellston; brother and sister-in-law, John and Beverly Womeldorf of Hamden; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary Womeldorf of Hamden, Patty and John Heuring of Toledo, William and Eva Grosjean of Florida, Janie Grosjean Anderson of Wellston, and Charlene and Oliver "Bud" Fowler of Berlin.  Being part of such big families, Von is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and being a lifelong resident of Wellston, he was blessed by many good friends as well.  Besides his parents, Von was preceded in death by grandchildren, Joseph Eric and McKenzie and several others who went to Heaven before leaving the womb; brother, Charles Samuel Womeldorf; sisters, Doris Kelly (Bill), Mary Ann Womeldorf (Ben Field), Kay Helmbrecht, Alma Stewart (Fred), and Donise Blankenship (James); mother-in-law, Ruth Grosjean; and brother-in-law, John Grosjean (Pam Exline Grosjean).  Calling hours will be Thursday, December 12th, from 4 to 6 p.m. at World Outreach Ministries in Wellston.  A Celebration of Life service, with military honors, will follow the calling hours at 6 p.m. with Pastor Rob Ervin officiating.  Cremation will follow the service.  As Von was concerned that everyone be able to know his Lord as theirs, in lieu of flowers, feel free to make a contribution to the World Outreach building fund c/o 6533 St. Rt. 327, Jackson, Ohio 45640.  Arrangements are under the direction of the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
