Obituary

Wendy Michelle Mercer, age 47, of Wellston passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, in her nice, warm, and cozy bed with her favorite baby doll, Sissy, by her side.  She was born at The Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus, Ohio on September 17, 1976 to parents, Peggy and Terry Gill and Roger and Vonda Mercer.  Wendy was a 2002 graduate of Vinton County Local Schools.  Wendy was a very special girl in so many ways.  She was always the life of the party, and her smile would light up the room.  Wendy never met a stranger and was always the first to give away her special hugs.  Her sense of humor and laughter were truly contagious.  Wendy's hobbies included puzzles, playing with her doll baby, Sissy, coloring, taking pictures and playing on her iPad, and of course, BOYS.  Wendy was a relentless flirt!  She absolutely LOVED family gatherings, parties, and holidays.  Wendy was an angel to so many.  Everyone's tremendous loss is truly Heaven's gain!  Wendy can now touch the face of Jesus and is reunited with so many of her loved ones waiting for her at the Eastern Gate.  Having Wendy in our lives for 47 years has truly been a blessing from God.  Until we meet again…our sweet Wendy!  Wendy is survived by her parents, Peggy and Terry Gill of Wellston and Roger and Vonda Mercer of McArthur; sisters, Penny Elaine Williams (Mark) and Ginger Eberts (Jason); brothers, Trent Allen Mercer (Katrina) and Zach Gill (Amy), and uncle, Gary Mercer (Jeanie).  Wendy's many nieces and nephews include Bailey Williams, Brady Williams, Darcy Williams, Molly Williams, Sophie Williams, Raegan Mercer, Rylee Sprague, Ace Eberts, Zander Gill, Zion Gill, Maleah Branson, and Vinny Branson, as well as cousin, Cody Gillman and several other cousins and friends.  Wendy was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Charles and Dorothy Gillman; paternal grandparents, Robert and Alma "Claradine" Mercer, and Evelyn Gill; "bonus brother" and cousin, Steven Gillman, Jr.; along with many aunts and uncles.  Calling hours will be Saturday, March 16th, from 12 to 2 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston.  Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 2 p.m. with Pastor Rob Ervin officiating.  Burial will be in the Byer Cemetery.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
